Kings of Leon Look Back On Childhood With ‘KOYSAR’ Ahead Of Australian Tour

Share

Kings of Leon have been thinking about their childhoods lately. Their latest single, ‘KOYSAR’, takes its name from a phrase Caleb Followill couldn’t get out of his head while walking around the house.

Short for ‘Kick Off Your Shoes and Run’, the track finds the frontman looking back at growing up without much to worry about, something that feels different now he’s raising a family of his own.

“I was walking around the house and I kept singing ‘kick off your shoes and run,’ and it started to take me back to when we were kids and we didn’t have a care in the world,” Followill explained.

“I feel like these days all you hear about is how bad things are and how scared we should be for tomorrow, and I don’t know about that. I believe if we hold close the things and the people that matter most, everything is going to be alright.”

The accompanying video takes that sentiment to the fairground, with the band spending the day alongside their children and loved ones. For a group made up of three brothers and their cousin, family has always been part of the story. This time, they’re looking at it from a different stage of life.

Released on October 16th, ‘KOYSAR’ continues the more relaxed sound of Kings of Leon‘s recent material, with a loose, easygoing feel that suits the subject matter.

It’s the third preview of their forthcoming tenth album, O My Beloved, following ‘My Whole World’ and ‘Cold Blue Dawn’. The latter arrived with a lyric video incorporating NASA satellite imagery through a collaboration with The Weather Channel.

The 13 track O My Beloved is also the band’s first entirely self-produced full length album, with the Followills drawing on their shared history and the people who’ve shaped their lives.

Australian fans will get their chance to hear the new material live when Kings of Leon return in February and March 2027.

The band will play Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne, with Ocean Alley joining them as special guests across all three shows.

General tickets went on sale Tuesday, October 27th at 1pm local time.

O My Beloved arrives November 6th through Love Tap Records, distributed by Virgin Music.
