I don’t know about you, but nothing screams nu-metal quite like a Yorkshire Terrier in a leather harness. Jonathan Davis of Korn reckons so too.
The Korn frontman has launched a new luxury pet collection and it’s genuinely called Freak On A Leash. This is not satire. This is real life.
The collection, which dropped April 22 is a collaboration with designer Ashton Michael. Michael is known for decking out the likes of Doja Cat, Post Malone and Megan Thee Stallion and now, presumably, your emotionally complicated miniature schnauzer. Expect studded collars, moto-inspired bandanas, leather harness vests and enough black-on-black to make your local tattooist weep tears of joy.
The line is part of Davis’ Freak On A Leash brand, first announced in 2022 as an “homage to horror and rock music.” The line has now evolved into a full-blown statement. That your dog is not just a good boy, he’s a misunderstood icon with abandonment issues and a taste for power chords.
“My dog brings me joy,” Davis said. “To dress them up in your own style… and then give back to dogs without homes… it makes me feel something warm in my dark little heart.” A portion of the profits from the line will go to Pup Culture Rescue in Pasadena, California.
So, if you’ve ever looked at your Chihuahua and thought, “You’d look incredible in bondage gear,” well, it’s your moment. And if that sentence disturbed you, welcome to nu-metal, it’s meant to.
In other Korn news, the band will headline Download Festival 2025 alongside Green Day, Sleep Token, Weezer and more. There’s no word yet on whether Freak On A Leash dogs will be afforded side-stage access, but if anyone can make it happen, my bets on the guy selling luxury pet wear named after a breakdown.
