Lady Gaga and Brian Johnson Belt ‘Highway to Hell’ in Surprise Carpool Karaoke Christmas Special

I don’t know about you, but Lady Gaga fan-girling over AC/DC’s Brian Johnson was not on my 2024 Christmas bingo card. But Apple TV+ made it happen anyway on A Carpool Karaoke Christmas.

The moment is pure magic. Gaga, all smiles, settles in for what seems she believes is a normal ride with host Zane Lowe. She later casually shares a clip of her grandmother singing AC/DC’s ‘Highway to Hell.’ Then Lowe pulls a surprise move—Brian Johnson climbs in and takes the wheel. Gaga’s face then says it all. Sitting next to one of her idols, she looks like any other fan trying to hold it together and not break into a million pieces.

Without hesitation, the pair launch into ‘Highway to Hell.’ As per, Gaga doesn’t hold back, matching Johnson’s raw energy and enthusiasm. The chemistry between them feels natural, like two friends sharing a jukebox moment on a road trip.

Amid the fun, Gaga drops a nugget of pop trivia most AC/DC fans probably don’t know. “I was in the ‘Stiff Upper Lip’ video,” she reveals. “17 and just an extra in the back. I was head- banging, and they said, ‘Stop, we want it modern.’ I said, ‘No, there’s only one move I’ve got.’”

Johnson, always quick with a joke, wraps it up perfectly. “I don’t have a license!” he says, grinning. Somehow, that only seems to add to the magic of it all.

For both rock fans and Little Monsters, this is the kind of crossover you didn’t know you needed. Gaga’s boundless energy and Johnson’s timeless grit remind us why these songs still hit so hard.

The full A Carpool Karaoke Christmas special is streaming now on Apple TV+. You can watch the trailer below. AC/DC fans can also look forward to their first North American tour in nearly a decade. It kicks off this April, and tickets are already on sale.
