Lenny Kravitz Has a Nightclub in his Paris Home (Yes, You Read That Right)

Share

Lenny Kravitz has a nightclub in his basement. Before you ask if you read that right, yes, a nightclub. Not a bar cart and a speaker setup. Not a vibey wine cellar. A nightclub. In the basement. Of his Paris home.

The revelation came via a video tour with Architectural Digest, where Kravitz casually strolls through a house that looks like a Bond villain moved in, fell in love with modernist design, and decided to get emotional about his mum. Which, to be fair, is basically what happened.

The home, which he’s dubbed Hotel de Roxie, is named after his late mother, actor Roxie Roker (aka Helen from The Jeffersons). She always dreamed of retiring in Paris. Lenny made that happen posthumously—in the most Lenny way possible, which includes mood lighting, a Steinway piano he designed himself, and a velvet-lined shrine to Muhammad Ali.

But the kicker is still downstairs. “This is where the real heart and soul of the house is,” he says, before revealing a full-blown club setup in the basement. Think vintage sound systems, plush seating, mirrors, moody lights, the works. You can almost hear the whispered phrase: this house has seen things.

Lenny has been living there for 22 years, which is both impressive and slightly unbelievable given that he also owns a trailer in the Bahamas and a thousand-acre coffee plantation in Brazil. Because when you’re Lenny Kravitz, why wouldn’t you have three radically different homes and a secret club under your living room?

Also worth noting: the man moved to Paris because his record label didn’t know how to market him in the U.S. Imagine failing to market Lenny Kravitz. The man looks like he was born inside a leather jacket. He is the genre.

Anyway, if you needed something to spiral about this week, let it be this. Somewhere in Paris right now, Lenny Kravitz is probably shirtless, drinking expensive tequila in a subterranean nightclub under his own house and vibing to his own basslines.
