Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst Knocks Down Fan’s Drone at Istanbul Show

Share

Fred Durst swatted a fan’s drone (or is it an air raid vehicle?) out of the sky during Limp Bizkit’s Istanbul show.

Limp Bizkit’s show in Istanbul on August 17 took an unexpected turn when frontman Fred Durst knocked a fan’s drone out of the air mid-performance. The band was playing at Atakoy Marina, delivering a 14-song set that ended with ‘Take A Look Around,’ when the incident happened.

Audience footage shows a drone hovering over the crowd and moving toward Durst during a breakdown in the middle of the song. Durst beckons the drone to get closer – and once it gets close enough, Durst swats it down with his microphone, sending it crashing to the ground.

The Limp Bizkit frontman then instructed security to remove the disabled drone and toss it out into the audience – no word on whether the crowd destroyed it or if it made it back to the operator, though.

Check out the fan-filmed footage of the moment Durst knocks the drone out of the sky below:

It can also be spotted around the four minute mark on this video:

The moment during Limp Bizkit’s set echoed a similar incident from three years ago, when Mike Patton attempted to hit a drone during a Mr. Bungle set at Knotfest but missed. This time, however, Durst’s strike landed cleanly.

In another unscripted moment, Durst told the Istanbul crowd that the night might be the last time the Turkish government would allow Limp Bizkit to perform in the country, though he did not give further details.

Fan-shot clips of the drone takedown have circulated online (and gone understandably mega viral), including closer footage posted to Reddit.

The Istanbul show continues Limp Bizkit’s summer run of international dates – although unfortunately, no Aussie dates at this stage. A nu metal fan can dream, right?
