Lindsey Buckingham and Mick Fleetwood Are Back in the Studio, I’m Not Joking

In a turn of events that absolutely no one saw coming (and probably fewer expected to happen without a lawsuit involved), Lindsey Buckingham and Mick Fleetwood have been spotted back together in the studio.

Yep — that Lindsey Buckingham. The one who got booted from Fleetwood Mac in 2018 after a now-legendary fallout. The one who said he’d rejoin the band “in a heartbeat,” only for Stevie Nicks to effectively slam the door shut. But apparently, time heals all wounds. Or, at the very least it make for decent PR.

Producer Carl Falk posted the photo of the two in a studio session, confirming that Buckingham came by to hear Fleetwood’s upcoming solo album. Falk also confirmed that Buckingham had since jumped in to play guitar and sing on it. According to Falk, Buckingham seemed genuinely stoked for Fleetwood’s solo debut. Which is either very wholesome or very strategic, depending on how cynical you’re feeling right now.

Also floating around the sessions: Adam Granduciel of The War on Drugs. So whatever Fleetwood’s cooking up might end up being more than a vanity project.

Fleetwood’s been vocal about wanting some kind of healing between Buckingham and Nicks, though he’s also admitted that “there’s a brick wall there emotionally.” And with Christine McVie’s passing in 2022, Nicks has made it clear she’s not interested in any kind of Mac revival. “Without Christine, no can do,” she said. Which is fair enough.

Still, seeing Buckingham and Fleetwood back in the same room — and not arguing over royalties — is something. A full reunion remains off the cards, but this could be the closest we get to any new music tied to that legacy.

Whether it leads anywhere or fizzles out doesn’t matter much. For now, it’s two icons making noise again and that’s worth a raising an eyebrow for.
