Linkin Park certainly aren’t messing around. Fresh off releasing their eight studio album From Zero last year, the American rock band have once again returned to the studio.
From Zero marked the bands first release since the passing of lead singer Chester Bennington. In replacement of Bennington, Dead Sara’s Emily Armstrong stepped in on vocals. With the album the band proved that despite Bennington’s absence, the band still have it.
Upon its release the album shot to the top of the charts in over ten countries including the UK, Australia, Germany, France, Italy and New Zealand. Many perceived the album as a reset for the band. A way in which they could move forward through the murky waters of grief. It became abundantly clear on it’s release that fans were onboard with the reset too.
Since ‘From Zero’ dropped, they’ve kept busy.
They put out an acapella version of the album and kicked off their world tour with a huge show in Mexico City.
The tour isn’t letting up either. Next stops include Austin, Berlin, Milan, Buenos Aires, and a massive night at London’s Wembley Stadium. Depending on the date, fans will see support from Queens of the Stone Age, Spiritbox, AFI, Architects, Grandson, Jean Dawson, JPEGMAFIA, and PVRIS.
Even with this packed touring schedule, Linkin Park aren’t slowing down. A new episode of their LPTV FROM ZERO series shows Mike Shinoda and Armstrong in their LA studio working on fresh material. No word yet on what’s coming, but the footage makes one thing clear—the band are certainly cooking up something.
Whether this next batch of songs builds on that foundation or takes a new direction remains to be seen. But one thing’s for sure—Linkin Park are pushing forward, and they’re bringing fans along for the ride.
