Live at The Chapel Makes a Triumphant Return

Share

It’s been 25 years since Live at The Chapel first hit Melbourne’s music scene. Back then, it wasn’t just a gig. It was a proper event. Performances from Foo Fighters, Coldplay, and Missy Higgins made it legendary. It set the bar for intimate live music experiences. After a long break, the series is finally back.

Thanks to ALWAYS LIVE and iHeartLIVE, Melbourne’s Chapel Off Chapel will host two huge gigs this December. It sort of makes you wonder why it took so long to bring it back.

Birds of Tokyo kick things off on December 2. They’ll play a semi-acoustic set—perfect for a band that balances raucous and reflective. The next night, Amy Shark will take to the stage. She’ll perform songs from her ARIA #1 album, Sunday Sadness.

The gig marks the first time both artists will play in the 180-year-old chapel. The space, loaded with history, feels both intimate and haunting. It’s the kind of gig that reminds you why live music is so special.

The shows are part of ALWAYS LIVE’s state-wide music celebration. The festival runs from November 22 to December 8. But don’t try Ticketmaster for tickets. Tickets can only be won through KIIS 101.1, GOLD104.3, and iHeartRadio. It’s exclusive, and if history’s any guide, tickets will go very fast.

The timing of this comeback also feels just right.

In recent years, Melbourne’s live music scene has taken some hits, but its spirit has held strong. Live at the Chapel marks a decisive change. This isn’t just any old gig. This is a truly special night. If you’re lucky enough to score a ticket to this exclusive gig, soak it up. You’ll be in one of Australia’s most beautiful venues, being serenaded by some of our best talent. This is live music at its best.
