The message dropped after her appearance at Coachella over the weekend where she performed ‘Girl so confusing’ with Charli xcx. A truly wild set if you managed to see some of it. Truly hedonism captured in its purest form.
“I went to Coachella this weekend. Very fun,” she begins, before launching into a breathy reflection on desert sunsets, emotional shedding, and what sounds a lot like the soft launch of a new project.
“I had this little taste. Fifteen seconds. I could feel it behind me,” she says, describing the feeling of standing near the stage as dusk hit. “These are the last moments where it’s just us… Everything is about to change.”
The tone is classic Lorde—half journal entry, half cinematic trailer. She doesn’t give away what exactly is coming, but it’s clear she’s been building toward something. “I’m so ready. I didn’t know if I would ever be ready to say that,” she adds. “You have no idea.”
And while she didn’t touch a mic at Coachella, her name did pop up mid-set from Charli XCX, who casually dropped “Lorde summer 2025” while hyping up the crowd. Just enough to get the internet frothing.
Whether that means new music, a tour, or just another 900-word essay about lemons remains to be seen. But between Charli’s not-so-subtle shoutout and Lorde’s voice message, all signs point to a return. One that might finally follow up Solar Power with something a little less beige.
