Machine Gun Kelly has kicked off his Australian tour in Perth, and instead of easing into it, he’s rolled out a brand new track featuring Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst.
The debut went down at RAC Arena on Wednesday night, where MGK dropped the nu metal leaning cut live for the first time, there’s no official release yet, just a raw first swing in front of a packed room.
Fred Durst enters the MGK universe
Before launching into the track, Kelly gave the crowd a quick origin story (per Tone Deaf):
“I called up my friend Fred Durst. I said, ‘Sir, drop something on this.’ What he dropped, the rest is history.”
It’s a pairing that makes sense on paper, MGK’s been circling heavier territory for a while, and pulling in Durst taps straight into that late ‘90s, early 2000s chaos he’s clearly flirting with.
Whether this is a one off moment or a sign of a full pivot back toward nu-metal remains to be seen, fingers are crossed though.
A chaotic start to the tour
The Perth show marked the opening night of MGK’s ‘Lost Americana’ run, and it didn’t exactly play things safe, big visuals, oversized staging, dancers, pyro, a hype man, everything thrown at the wall at once.
According to Rolling Stone AU/NZ, the show struggled to lock into a consistent identity, shifting between hardcore, hip-hop, and full scale pop spectacle, it’s a lot to juggle, and at times it sounds like it didn’t quite land cleanly.
Still, one thing held steady, MGK himself.
His vocals stayed solid across the set, and he pushed through a full two hour performance without dropping the energy, even when the crowd lagged, he didn’t.
The tour rolls on

Despite early chatter around slow ticket sales, the Perth opener proved there’s still a crowd willing to show up and lean into it all, next stops include Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and Auckland, with Melbourne already sold out.
If this new Durst assisted track is anything to go by, MGK’s not done shifting lanes just yet.
