Former Guns N’ Roses drummer Matt Sorum has praised Yungblud, calling him a pupil of rock and saying he saw “something historic.”

Former Guns N’ Roses drummer Matt Sorum has shared glowing praise on social media for Yungblud after catching his Hollywood Palladium show on August 23. Sorum described the performance as a sign that “there is hope in the world of Rock N Roll,” calling it one of the most inspiring gigs he’s seen in years.

The drummer attended the sold-out Los Angeles date of Yungblud’s current world tour, later posting a photo with the British artist, real name Dom Harrison, alongside a reflection on Instagram.

“The room was electric and the crowd was insane,” Sorum wrote. “The energy all came from the stage as Yungblud brought it. He is a pupil of RNR and has done his homework. He’s studied the greatest frontmen…Freddie, Tyler, Jagger, Iggy, Idol, Plant, Bowie, Axl, Weiland and of course Ozzy and now he has discovered himself and is unleashing it on the world.”

Sorum went so far as to compare Yungblud’s stage presence to some of rock’s most iconic figures. “I will go so far as to say I saw something historic last night and the world needs this. Congrats Dom you are going no place but up !!!”

Yungblud is currently on a tour run that will take him across North America – no word yet on if Australia will get a look-in, but fans are hopeful.

Known for his high-energy performances and outspoken, authentic persona, Yungblud has built a reputation as one of the most electrifying live acts of his generation.

Sorum’s praise adds another voice to a growing list of veteran musicians recognizing his impact on modern rock – a growing trend that has well and truly gone into overdrive since his performance of ‘Changes’ at the Back To The Beginning show weeks before Ozzy Osbourne’s death.
