Metal Band LORD Call It Quits Amid Criminal Scandal Involving Frontman

Formed in 2003 as a solo project by Lord Tim, LORD evolved into a full band following the breakup of Dungeon in 2005. Over the years, they cemented their place in the Australian metal scene, sharing stages with the likes of Queensrÿche, Nightwish, and Gamma Ray. Their discography includes Ascendence (2007), Set in Stone (2009), and Fallen Idols (2019), which reached #20 on the Australian Artist Album Charts.

LORD’s unexpected end comes after serious allegations against Lord Tim surfaced, leading to legal proceedings. While details remain scarce due to the ongoing investigation, bassist Andy Dowling and guitarist Mark Furtner made it clear they had no choice but to walk away. In a statement posted on February 17, they said they were “deeply saddened” by the situation and confirmed that LORD would not be continuing. They also stated that, “out of respect for all parties involved and the legal process, we cannot provide further details at this time.”

The announcement has sent waves through the Australian metal community, with fans expressing shock and disappointment. LORD had built a strong reputation over two decades, carrying the torch for traditional heavy metal and power metal in a scene that often leaned towards extreme genres. Their mix of massive riffs, soaring vocals, and intricate musicianship earned them a dedicated following both locally and internationally. Whether through their own material or as a continuation of what Dungeon started, LORD played a crucial role in keeping classic metal alive in Australia.

Now, with their abrupt collapse, that chapter of the country’s metal history comes to a messy and unfortunate close. Their legacy, once defined by their contribution to the genre, is now inextricably linked to controversy.
