My Chemical Romance’s Gerard Way Is Part Of A New Project, And New Music’s Coming Soon

Share

Gerard Way appears to be part of a new musical project titled ‘The Mock-Ups’ alongside members of The Interrupters, and new music is coming soon.

Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance appears to be providing vocals and bass for a new project titled ‘The Mock-Ups’ alongside members from the ska-punk band The Interrupters, according to a new post by Gauzy Records.

The Instagram post was first spotted by The State of The Scene Podcast, and notes that “The Mock-Ups: I Wanna Know Your Name” is “coming soon.” It then goes on to credit various members of the project, including Gerard Way on vocals and bass, Aimee on backing vocals, Michael Schulz on guitar, Kevin Bivona on keys and production, and Jesse Bivona on drums. Aimee, Kevin, and Jesse are all members of The Interrupters. Engineering is handled by Doug McKean, according to the post.

It’s not clear exactly what sound we can expect from the new project featuring Gerard Way – the teaser image appears to show what could be lyrics for the track, but no clues on genre or vibes just yet (or whether it’s a single or something a bit meatier). Gauzy records itself is described as “not defined by genre or sub-culture. Unified by ambition and aesthetic rather than sound.”

Way is currently a very busy musician – My Chemical Romance is travelling across North America for their Long Live The Black Parade tour, with plans to hit Asia (and hopefully then Australia) after that. Where Way found the time to get involved in a new project is anyone’s guess – just as much as when fans can expect to hear The Mock-Ups for the first time and get their heads wrapped around it all.
