Oasis Fan Sneaks Into Heaton Park Show Dressed as Litter Picker

A 42-year-old Oasis fan claims he blagged his way into the band’s sold-out reunion gig in Manchester by pretending to be a litter picker.

John Spilsbury didn’t have a ticket for Friday night’s show at Heaton Park but wasn’t about to let that stop him. So he threw on a hi-vis vest, grabbed a bin bag and a litter picker, and walked straight through the gates like he belonged there.

It worked. No one stopped him. No questions asked. Once inside, he headed straight for the front of the crowd, did a solid half-hour of actual litter picking to keep the disguise believable, then stripped off the gear and enjoyed the show.

Spilsbury, a transport planner from Alfreton in Cheshire, posted about the stunt on social media with a photo of himself in costume and the caption: “No ticket, no problem.”

Fans online were calling him a genius. Some joked there’d be thousands of people in hi-vis at the next show. Others just wished they’d thought of it first.

Oasis kicked off their five-night homecoming run at Heaton Park with Hello, tearing through a set loaded with classics. Morning Glory, Some Might Say, Cigarettes and Alcohol, and Supersonic were all in the mix. Liam hugged Noel before heading off stage for the acoustic section, where Noel played Half the World Away and Little by Little.

The main set wrapped with Rock N Roll Star before the inevitable encore. They came back out to massive cheers for Don’t Look Back in Anger and Wonderwall, closing the night with Champagne Supernova and a full fireworks display.

This run at Heaton Park is the only UK leg of the tour not in a stadium. The rest of the shows will hit Wembley, Cardiff’s Principality Stadium and Murrayfield in Edinburgh before Oasis heads overseas.

John Spilsbury got in without a ticket, got to the front, and saw the band tear it up on home turf. You can’t say he didn’t earn it.
