Orange Goblin Announce Split After 30 Monumental Years

After three decades of heavy, riff-laden chaos, stoner-metal icons Orange Goblin have announced their decision to call it quits. The London-based band, revered for their no-compromise ethos will wrap things up with a farewell tour this March.

In a heartfelt statement shared on Instagram, the band broke the news to their fans, reflecting on their journey from “bored teenagers with a mutual love of Heavy Metal, Classic Rock and Punk Rock” to globe-trotting legends. “We’ve had some incredible experiences and are left with magical memories. For that, we are all truly grateful,” they wrote.

Formed in 1995, Orange Goblin quickly carved out a niche with their crushing blend of doom, metal, and punk-infused rock. Over the years, they churned out 10 studio albums, each a sonic timestamp of the band’s evolution. From Frequencies from Planet Ten to The Wolf Bites Back, their catalogue remains an unrelenting ode to heavy music.

The band acknowledged how this was not a decision they took lightly, having spent more than half their lives dedicating everything to the project. “We’ve always maintained a DIY ethic and done things our own way. We’ve never compromised to fit into any specific scene,” their statement read, adding that they’re proud of the legacy they’ll leave behind.

For those now searching for a tissue to wipe their tears, the announcement was not entirely bleak. The band also hinted that this might not be goodbye forever. “Maybe not forever, and who knows what could be possible further down the line,” they teased. For now, though, the focus is shifting to families and personal endeavours outside of the band.

Fans will get one final chance to see Orange Goblin perform live. Tour details are expected soon, but one thing’s for sure—these farewell gigs will be nothing short of cathartic for both the band and their legion of stoner- metal fans. So, here’s to 30 years of uncompromising heavy metal from a band that always kept it raw.
