Paramore share title track from long-awaited new album

Share

It’s been five years since Paramore have released new music, and every single one of them has been felt. For that reason, audiences are experiencing a particularly triumphant feeling of relief today upon the unveiling of their latest track, ‘This Is Why’, and the announcement of their forthcoming sixth studio album of the same name.

Speaking on ‘This Is Why’, frontwoman Hayley Williams shares that it’s the last song that was written for the long-awaited album. She continued: “To be honest, I was so tired of writing lyrics but Taylor convinced Zac and I both that we should work on this last idea. What came out of it was the title track for the whole album. It summarizes the plethora of ridiculous emotions, the rollercoaster of being alive in 2022, having survived even just the last 3 or 4 years. You’d think after a global pandemic of fucking biblical proportions and the impending doom of a dying planet, that humans would have found it deep within themselves to be kinder or more empathetic or something.”

The video that accompanies the track was directed by Turnstile’s Brendan Yates, a friend of the band and one of their contemporaries in the alternative scene. “There’s a cool kinship between the way our bands do things,” Williams commented. “I’ve known the Turnstile guys for a little while and was so psyched to have our worlds collide in this way.”

The Paramore we’re meeting today are unfortunately growing up in the same world as us, currently in formation as a trio of Williams, Zac Farro, and Taylor York. They haven’t come to save us from it, but they have come to soundtrack us through it, with 10 new Paramore songs dropping on This Is Why on February 10th 2023 via Atlantic Records.
