Pixies are set to play two intimate shows in Australia this November. The band is in the country to support Pearl Jam on their upcoming stadium tour. The news comes after Pixies recently released their new album, The Night the Zombies Came.
The band will perform at The Croxton in Melbourne on Friday, November 15, and at Liberty Hall in Sydney on Wednesday, November 20. These sideshows offer fans a rare chance to see Pixies in smaller venues, following the sell-out success of their 2022 Australian tour, which included packed shows at Melbourne’s Forum and Sydney’s Opera House Forecourt. Australian rock band, the Belair Lip Bombs have also been announced to open for Pixies at both side shows.
Tickets for the sideshows go on sale to the general public on Friday, November 8, at 10 am local time. However, My Live Nation members can access an exclusive pre-sale starting Thursday, November 7, at 10 am.
The Night the Zombies Came has been well received by critics, with many calling it a strong follow-up to the band’s earlier work. The album celebrates the energy and spirit that made Pixies a force to be reckoned with in the late ‘80s and ‘90s. The new album is their first since 2016’s Head Carrier, and comes 35 years after their breakthrough album, Doolittle.
Pixies’ lineup has recently shifted, with bassist Emma Richardson replacing Paz Lenchantin earlier this year. The band’s current lineup includes frontman Black Francis, guitarist Joey Santiago, and drummer David Lovering.
