Sydney’s favourite sons Polaris are capitalising on the relaxing of IRL restrictions like the goddamn kings they are. Jumping on the recent government approval for citizens to both sing and dance like a grenade, Polaris have announced a worthy list of headline dates that are enough to leave you short of breath from simply scrolling through.
Polaris have christened the run of live shows in the name of ‘Vagabond’, a key ingredient within the mix of their latest masterpiece, The Death of Me, which hit fans mere days before the global lockdown in March of last year.
As fans will know well from the debrief session conducted with Blunt Mag hot off the heels of the release, ‘Vagabond’ is a song originally inspired by the crushing reality of spending too much time away from home.
Indeed, the slight irony isn’t lost on the band, who commented: “After the last year of being unable to tour and travel, there were a lot of times when our actual homes didn’t really feel like home either, because where we really wanted to be was out travelling the world and playing shows! We are so psyched to finally shake the rust off and get back on the road after what will have been 16 months away from doing what we love most.”
Adding further oomph to the tour announcement, Polaris have shared the official visuals for the ‘Vagabond’ single. Taking place in other-worldy sand dunes and cramped rainforests, the clip reinforces the not-so-silent scale of the single which is equal parts expansive and dense. Things level out in time for the guitar solo, as all things in life should.
Speaking of the clip, vocalist/bassist Jake Steinhauser explains that the “video has been a long time in the making, and is probably the most ambitious visual project we’ve ever worked on. When we first considered doing a video for ‘Vagabond’ we knew that the vibrant sunny attitude of the song’s chorus was something we wanted to reflect in the visuals – something a lot brighter than what we’d normally go for.”
Tickets to the run of shows are on sale this week, and considering the insane levels of demand for such things, we suggest you don’t fuck around on this one.
