Puddle of Mudd’s Wes Scantlin Claims He Was ‘Roofied’ By Ex- Bandmate

Puddle of Mud’s Wes Scantlin’s latest controversy might top his long list of public mishaps.

The Puddle of Mudd frontman has claimed he was “roofied” by former bassist Sean Sammon before the band’s disastrous set at Daytona Bike Week.

The band played a free benefit show at the Broken Spoke Saloon on March 1, raising funds for children’s cancer research. While the signed guitar auction managed to pull in $5000, the performance itself left fans questioning what exactly went down. Reports from attendees painted a grim picture. This includes technical issues, a struggling frontman, and an overall trainwreck of a set.

A day after the gig, Scantlin was confronted by a fan who asked about the show. His response? “I suck, I suck and I suck … but I was roofied.” The bizarre exchange, filmed and posted to Facebook, didn’t end there. Scantlin went on to single out Sammon as the culprit, flipping off the camera and walking away. He then turned back and delivered one last middle finger for good measure.

Sammon has yet to respond to the accusation, but the venue’s social media page was flooded with criticism. “I’m so glad that was a free show,” one attendee wrote. “I’d be pissed if I spent my money to see that terrible show.”

This isn’t Scantlin’s first brush with chaos. Last year, he was reportedly arrested and pepper-sprayed after a police stand-off, adding to a history of legal troubles that includes attempting to board a plane with a gun in 2017.

Even Scantlin himself has admitted to his failure. Most recently he acknowledged that Puddle of Mudd’s infamous Nirvana cover “looked and sounded like total shit.” But blaming a former bandmate for an onstage disaster? That sure is a new one for Scantlin. Here’s hoping the Daytona gig is not replicated in the future.
