Rammstein’s reputation as one of metal’s most confrontational live bands wasn’t built in a studio, it was forged on festival stages, under fire, sparks, and sheer physical volume.

The German band headlined the second day of the Netherlands festival that year, delivering a set that reflects the core of their ‘Tanzmetall’ sound, Rammstein’s music blends industrial metal with elements of techno, progressive metal, and gothic atmosphere, a style they’ve long maintained as distinctly their own.

Frontman Till Lindemann’s vocals remain a defining element of the performance, delivered with the blunt, commanding presence the band are known for.

Instrumentally, the set leans heavily on thick, driving guitar riffs, rigid drum patterns, and layered keyboards that run through almost every song, the balance between electronic and guitar driven elements highlights the industrial foundation that has shaped Rammstein’s catalogue since the 1990s.

While much of the performance focuses on heavier material, the setlist also makes space for more restrained moments, ‘Seemann’ offers a break from the intensity, showcasing the band’s ability to shift into slower, more melodic territory.

These contrasts have long been part of Rammstein’s live identity, sitting alongside their more aggressive material, the Pinkpop appearance came at a point where Rammstein were already established as a major European live act, and the footage captures a band operating with confidence and precision.

Setlist

The setlist draws from across their catalogue, mixing fan favourites with deeper cuts, and closes with their Depeche Mode cover of ‘Stripped’.
