Sepultura’s farewell tour is officially set to wrap at the end of 2026, bringing a 40-year legacy to a close with no plans for a reunion or drawn-out goodbye.
Speaking to Metal Hammer, guitarist Andreas Kisser confirmed the band is aiming to finish things with a final show in São Paulo or Belo Horizonte. “At the end of 2026, we’d like to do this last show,” he said. And that will be it. No encore tours, no extended fade-outs.
The Celebrating Life Through Death tour kicked off in 2024 and has already covered North America. Future dates are expected across Europe, South America, and beyond. Along the way, the band is recording a live compilation: 40 songs from 40 different cities. It’s meant to document the intensity of Sepultura in its final stretch.
For fans hoping for a full-circle moment with original members Max and Igor Cavalera, it’s not happening. Kisser has extended the invitation for the final show, but Max has publicly shut the door. “It’s definitely out of the question,” Max told Metal Injection. “The real reunion is what I’m doing with Igor now. That’s the magic.”
The Cavalera brothers have been performing early Sepultura material under their own banner, and have no interest in folding that back into a formal Sepultura reunion. “People can give up — it’s not gonna happen,” Max added.
Still, Kisser says he wants the final show to include former members and longtime collaborators, framing it as a celebration rather than a funeral. “There’s no reason to be fighting,” he told Reality Check TV recently. “We just go on stage, enjoy ourselves… Forty years of history — it’s a lot.”
Sepultura’s final chapter is now coming into focus. While It lacks the hallmarks of a traditional farewell tour, I can’t help but fee grateful for it. Here there are no dragged-out farewells, no half-measures. It’s just one last show, and then done. Perhaps simplicity truly is the way.
