Sevendust are gearing up for another heavy chapter, with frontman Lajon Witherspoon confirming the band has officially wrapped recording on their upcoming album.
The new project is the follow up to 2023’s ‘Truth Killer’ and he’s feeling seriously good about where it’s landed, which has us extra excited. Speaking with Milwaukee station 102.9 The HOG, Witherspoon said the band has spent the past six weeks holed up in Florida tracking the record for its early 2026 release through Napalm Records.
“We’ve been in Florida for the last six weeks recording the album. Everything’s good… We’ve finished recording… very happy with the whole entire record as a whole.”
Reuniting with Elvis Baskette
Once again, Sevendust teamed up with producer Michael “Elvis” Baskette, working out of Studio Barbarosa in Gotha, Florida. Baskette’s resume already includes Alter Bridge and Slash, but he’s also become something of a Sevendust fixture, now producing four records in a row for the band.
Guitarist Clint Lowery marked the end of tracking with an Instagram post, thanking Baskette and engineers Jef Moll and Josh Saldate for pushing the band to new heights.
“Four records in a row and all amazing experiences… Can’t wait to hear [Elvis] mix this bad boy up,” he wrote.
Writing sessions again took place at the farmhouse owned by Lajon and his wife Ashley, a spot that seems to have become Sevendust’s quiet creative engine.
A Busy Run For the Band
Alongside their studio grind, Sevendust are also celebrating the 21st anniversary of their acoustic album ‘Southside Double-Wide: Acoustic Live’ with a run of intimate U.S. shows kicking off November 14. The tour brings stripped-back versions of tracks like ‘Black’, ‘Beautiful’, and ‘Angel’s Son’, with Cory Marks opening.
It caps off a huge couple of years for the Atlanta heavyweights, their last album ‘Truth Killer’ arrived via Napalm Records and delivered one of the biggest singles of their career in ‘Everything’ (below), which hit No. 6 on the rock charts and became the highest charting rock single in Napalm Records history.
The band also toured with Disturbed on their ‘The Sickness’ 25th anniversary run and honoured the 21st anniversary of ‘Seasons’, the 2003 record that gave fans ‘Enemy’ and long standing set closer ‘Face to Face’.
Witherspoon’s optimism about the new album suggests Sevendust aren’t slowing down anytime soon, even three decades into a career defined by grit, groove, and unwavering consistency.
