Russian deathcore outfit Slaughter to Prevail have responded to serious allegations from former drum tech Thomas Finch.
His explosive public post last week painted the band’s tour management as chaotic, unprofessional and unwilling to pay up.
Finch’s post, made on July 24, came with a disclaimer that the band members themselves were “wonderful fun loving humans”. His issue, he said, was with the management. He claimed there were no formal contracts in place, no set payment schedule, unpaid tour expenses and even said he had to cover crew meals out of pocket. When he asked for payment, he was reportedly called “unprofessional” and ultimately left the tour after a heated exchange.
The band’s management responded on July 27 with a lengthy and defensive statement, essentially accusing Finch of using the controversy to promote his own business. According to them, Finch never raised any of these concerns during the tour and had even asked to stay on right up until he left. They suggest the real reason he quit was because their manager told him he would not be brought back for future shows, as they already had a full-time drum tech based in Australia.
They dispute most of the claims, stating that payment delays were due to incorrect bank info and a short holiday taken by their business manager. They also say that when a crew bus broke down in El Paso, the band gave up their own hotel rooms so the crew had a place to crash.
Finch alleged that NDAs were issued to crew after he left. The band confirmed this and said it was standard practice, especially after personal and private business info was aired publicly. They also claim they had received warnings about Finch before hiring him, but gave him a chance regardless.
Slaughter to Prevail say they have since reviewed crew conditions and found no evidence of wrongdoing. They won’t be commenting further, but say they are “happy to see this through court” if needed.
Finch has yet to respond publicly.
