Sleep Token Announce Their New Single ‘Caramel’ Will Be Dropping This Friday

Share

Sleep Token will return with a new single titled ‘Caramel’ this Friday, April 4. It’s the second track to be lifted from their upcoming album Even In Arcadia which is due out on May 9 via RCA.

The release follows March’s lead single ‘Emergence’. The song was a sprawling, genre-mashing slow-burn that reaffirmed the band’s status as metal’s most unpredictable unit. ‘Caramel’, however, is expected to further peel back the layers of the album. Because there is no doubt that a considerable amount of lore is soon coming our way.

In typical Sleep Token fashion, the rollout has been anything but straightforward. The latest teaser campaign included the unlikely help of North Carolina weatherman Chris Michaels, who began cryptically referencing the band during on-air segments. Between glitchy visuals, symbolic imagery, and ominous catchphrases like “Prepare,” fans were left to connect the dots.

That all culminated this week with the band confirming ‘Caramel’ via a short clip on social media—featuring a lone flamingo, dubbed Jerry by longtime fans, standing in front of an animated backdrop. Sleep Token have always played with visual motifs, and Jerry’s return is about as close as this band gets to a mascot.

What ‘Caramel’ will sound like is anyone’s guess. With Even In Arcadia expected to expand beyond the trilogy of previous albums, speculation around stylistic shifts and lore resets is already swirling. The only safe bet is that nothing about it will be simple or subtle.

Sleep Token are also locked in to headline this year’s Download Festival alongside Green Day and Korn. Their Even In Arcadia tour will take them across North America this September. It will kick off in Georgia on September 16, before hitting major cities including Brooklyn, LA, and Philadelphia.

For now, the next chapter starts Friday. Keep your notifications on. Worship resumes shortly.
