Slipknot Announce 25th Anniversary Edition Of Self-Titled Debut Album

Share

Slipknot are releasing a deluxe reissue of their iconic self-titled debut album with unreleased tracks and rare live recordings.

Slipknot are throwing it back to where it all began. The band have officially announced Slipknot (25th Anniversary Edition), a deluxe reissue of their era-defining 1999 debut, set for release on September 5 via Roadrunner Records.

Slipknot’s expanded edition dives deep into the making of the album that helped shape modern metal, pulling together rare demos, unreleased tracks, alternate mixes and raw live cuts that capture the chaotic, unfiltered beginnings of the Iowa nine. Across six colour vinyl LPs, the collection features 59 recordings in total, including 40 that have never been released to the public—until now.

Yesterday, a hyper-limited collector’s edition of the reissue was made available via Slipknot’s secret site 742617000027.net. The 100 blood-filled vinyl copies sold out in seconds, crashing the site in the process. A wider release is now up for pre-order, including a 6LP box set with blood-splattered vinyl (limited to 1899 copies), 2LP and 2CD formats, as well as digital.

Depending on the edition, fans will get access to the original Ross Robinson-produced Slipknot album, Indigo Ranch mixes, early demos, and alternate versions mixed by Jay Baumgardner and Ulrich Wild. Also included are soundboard-quality live recordings from 1999 and 2000, showcasing the band’s explosive rise from small venues to massive festival stages.

Today’s drop also includes the unreleased demo version of ‘Prosthetics’, recorded before entering Indigo Ranch with Robinson. The early version offers a rare glimpse into the song’s evolution before landing on the final record.

“We loved what we did with the first record but we didn’t even know if there was gonna be anything after that,” guitarist Jim Root recalls. “We just wanted people to hear it. Selling out of records and shows, having successful tours– those are goals for any band. But the dream scenario in some ways, came true for us.”

The box set also comes with new artwork and unseen photos from the band’s personal archives, plus nine Slipknot collector photo cards. It’s a full-circle moment not just for the band, but for the fans who’ve stuck with them through decades of chaos and reinvention.

Founding Slipknot member Shawn “clown” Crahan said, “Every time I’ve walked on stage, it’s never been about how many people have been there because my culture, the maggots, always show up.”

Whether you were there from the jump or found Slipknot through the blood, sweat and dust of Knotfest, this reissue offers the most comprehensive look yet into the genesis of one of metal’s most unrelenting forces.
