Snot’s New Era Begins As Andy Knapp Steps Into Lynn Strait’s Legacy

Share

Snot have officially entered a new era, and frontman Andy Knapp is the spark behind the revival, stepping into a role loaded with history and heartbreak.

Knapp says he’s still searching for the right language to describe what it means to carry the legacy of the late Lynn Strait more than twenty five years after the singer’s passing.

“I tell my wife all the time, I’m, like, I’m not the only Snot fan out there that loves this band so much that they wanna do something like this… I’m not the best at it, but I’m the luckiest one,” he told Audioeclectica.com.

The band’s first show with Knapp took place in Anaheim earlier this year, unleashing a version of SNOT that feels the closest to its original spirit since the ’90s.

Longtime followers embracing Knapp in the role many thought could never be filled, hearing praise from those who knew Strait has hit him hardest:

“It feels really good. It’s overwhelming, to be honest with you… It’s a trip.”

Knapp’s connection to Snot’s music runs deep, tracing back to hearing ‘Snooze’ for the first time as a teenager and being floored by Lynn’s unfiltered delivery. That early impact shaped his own approach as a vocalist. “If I’m gonna fucking sing, I’m gonna try to do it like that guy does it. ’Cause he doesn’t give a fuck,” he said.

The band’s core members feel the same spark, bassist John “Tumor” Fahnestock says this is the first time Snot truly feels “back”, with Knapp unlocking momentum they haven’t felt since Strait’s lifetime.

New music is already underway with producer Chris Collier, with two tracks completed and more planned for 2026,

Guitarist Mikey Doling says the new material “sounds like old Snot… funky, punk, attitude — like 1996, ’97.”
