Sophie Allison, better known as Soccer Mommy, is heading back to Australia this June for a string of headline shows around the country.
Off the back of her latest record Evergreen—an album that dials into grief without sugar-coating it—Allison will play three headline dates, hitting Torquay, Castlemaine, and Perth. The shows will run alongside festival slots at Vivid Sydney, RISING Melbourne and Brisbane’s Open Season.
It’s been a couple of years since Allison last played here, with her 2023 run drawing in huge crowds across the east coast. Since then, things have shifted significantly though. Evergreen is a different kind of record. It’s still melodic and sharp, but this times it’s much more stripped back. It’s reflective without being soft. Tracks sound like they were built to sit with sadness rather than smother it. As Rolling Stone put it, “This is music that isn’t about moving beyond grief, but living in it.”
And it’s not just heavy for the sake of it. There’s space in these songs. Some of them even sound playful in their honesty. Allison’s writing has always been open, but this time it feels even more lived-in. She’s not forcing resolution, just letting things sit. And for fans who’ve followed her evolution from Clean to Sometimes, Forever, that kind of growth will hit close to home.
The live set is expected to pull from across her catalogue, with Evergreen cuts alongside staples like ‘circle the drain’, ‘Your Dog’, and ‘yellow is the colour of her eyes’.
Presale for Frontier Members kicks off Monday April 7 at 11am local time, with general tickets on sale Wednesday April 9 via frontiertouring.com/soccermommy.
