Two-time GRAMMY-nominated progressive metal band Spiritbox is back with their sophomore album, Tsunami Sea, set for release on March 7, 2025. The album, released via Pale Chord and Rise Records, promises a new chapter in the band’s ever- evolving sound.
To celebrate the announcement, the Canadian rockers have dropped their new single Perfect Soul, accompanied by a visually stunning music video. Directed by Dylan Hryciuk, the video is set in an eerie, abandoned oceanside hospital. It features Courtney LaPlante as an angelic figure, navigating the afterlife, surrounded by ghostly spirits and a grotesque, barnacle-covered creature. The haunting visuals match the song’s dark, atmospheric tone, blending melodic riffs with heavy grooves.
Perfect Soul follows the release of Soft Spine, another track the Canadian rockers previously released from Tsunami Sea. Described by various media outlets as “relentlessly heavy” and “a hella-bruising bangabout”, the songs push musical boundaries. The songs also reflect Spiritbox’s long- standing commitment to staying true to their metal roots.
For Spiritbox, 2024 has shaped up to one of their best years yet. It began with them earning a second GRAMMY nomination for Best Metal Performance with “Cellar Door.” It later crescendoed when the band collaborated with major hip-hop star Megan Thee Stallion on MEGAN: ACT II. More recently they have also joined American metal icons, Korn on their 30th Anniversary Tour, and performed at major festivals like Louder Than Life.
Set to have an even greater 2025, the band will soon be joining Bring Me The Horizon for their stadium shows. They will also be supporting Linkin Park across their huge 2025 ‘From Zero’ stadium tour. While the Canadian rockers have not yet revealed whether they are coming to Australia in 2025, you can’t help but feel that they will. With Tsunami Sea set also for release, Spiritbox is clearly ready to continue their meteoric rise in modern metal. Long may their ascent continue.
