The worlds of metalcore and bass music continue to collide, and the latest crossover arrives courtesy of Spiritbox’s Courtney LaPlante and Mike Stringer, who have teamed up with electronic music heavyweights SLANDER and producer VASTIVE for the new collaborative single, “Under My Skin.”
After being road tested across hundreds of live performances, the track has officially arrived, blending dubstep drops, massive guitar work and LaPlante’s unmistakable vocal intensity into one of the most ambitious genre crossing releases of the year (per The PRP).
According to SLANDER, the journey to release the song has been years in the making:
“The time has come. ‘Under My Skin‘ is finally here. The journey this song has been through is nothing short of an odyssey. We have played this song over the course of 3 worldwide tours at over 300 shows. It truly has been tested and has hit the mark.”
The Los Angeles duo also praised Spiritbox‘s contributions, highlighting both LaPlante’s vocal performance and Stringer’s guitar work:
“Getting to work with Spiritbox on this song was such an incredible experience. Their kindness, professionalism, skill, and passion was so refreshing. They gave the song so much intensity and light.. bringing it to new heights that were previously unimaginable.”
Standout moment
SLANDER went on to single out LaPlante’s recording sessions as a standout moment:
“Also getting to watch Courtney scream in the studio is something we will never forget. The precision of her vocal performance during recording was astounding.”
Stringer’s contributions were equally celebrated:
“Additionally we gotta big up Mike for adding some amazing riffs and insane guitar lead lines.”
The collaboration also showcases the growing influence of VASTIVE, whose aggressive production style helps bridge the gap between modern heavy music and festival-ready electronic energy.
“Lastly we give flowers to Vastive. He is an untouchable producer whose distinctive sound brought so much aggressive power to the song.”
For Spiritbox fans, “Under My Skin” offers another example of the band’s willingness to push beyond traditional genre boundaries. While the group has become one of modern metal’s biggest success stories, collaborations like this continue to demonstrate just how naturally their sound can exist outside the confines of metalcore.
With “Under My Skin” now available worldwide, it’s safe to say this long awaited collaboration has finally arrived exactly as intended, loud, emotional and built to shake speakers.
