British prog rocker Steven Wilson is due to head back to Australia this November as part of his The Overview Tour. There, he will play through his back catalogue and new recent album, The Overview which comes out today (March 14).
The tour follows an extensive run across the UK, Europe, and North America. It also marks Wilson’s first visit to Australia in many years.
Known for pushing sonic boundaries, Wilson will bring his signature blend of progressive sprawl and cinematic electronics to Aussie stages. Joining him are bassist Nick Beggs (Mute Gods, Steve Hackett), jazz keyboardist Adam Holzman (Miles Davis, Ray Manzarek), drummer Craig Blundell (Steve Hackett, Frost), and guitarist Randy McStine (Marco Minnemann, The Fringe).
At the core of The Overview is the “overview effect”—the shift in perception astronauts experience when viewing Earth from space. The album channels that vastness into a 42-minute conceptual journey, featuring just two ambitious tracks that stretch progressive rock into new dimensions.
Wilson’s career speaks for itself. He has six Grammy nominations. Three consecutive UK Top 5 albums and a reputation for reshaping sounds. Whether it be his own work or his remixes of Pink Floyd, The Who, King Crimson, Wilson is true a music wizard. His live shows are legendary for their scope and intensity, and The Overview Tour promises no less. So expect a set packed with new material alongside career-spanning gems.
Australian fans have been waiting for Wilson’s return, and this is their chance to experience one of music’s most forward-thinking artists in action.
Presale tickets are released at 8:00am on March 18. General on-sale tickets are released at 9:00am on March 20. Tickets can be purchased here.
