Sublime Confirmed For Warped Tour Long Beach

Sublime are joining the sold-out Warped Tour Long Beach stop with Jakob Nowell fronting the chaos.

Run to the party: Warped Tour Long Beach just scored a hometown hero headliner. Sublime have officially joined the lineup for the sold-out Warped stop on July 26–27, marking a full-circle moment for the band who were there from the very beginning.

The addition was announced via Vans Warped Tour’s social media on June 25, with the post reading: “you’ve been patiently waiting your turn, long beach 🤭 as requested, Sublime coming your way.” The band played this year‘s DC stop, and fans have been speculating for weeks that one of the remaining “surprise” acts, currently redacted on the tour poster, would be Sublime. Now, it’s fully confirmed – although, there’s still two more “surprises” to drop the week of the festival.

It’s a fitting homecoming. Back in 1995, Sublime were one of the earliest bands to jump on the first-ever Warped Tour, performing alongside No Doubt, Deftones, Lagwagon, Good Riddance, and Sick of It All. But their stint on that debut run wasn’t without drama.

As drummer Bud Gaugh recalled to Time, “Basically, our daily regimen was wake up, drink, drink more, play, and then drink a lot more. We’d call people names. Nobody got our sense of humor. Then we brought the dog out and he bit a few skaters, and that was the last straw.” The band’s dalmatian, Lou Dog, got them kicked off the tour for a week.

Thirty years on, Sublime are back – this time with Jakob Nowell, son of the late Bradley Nowell, fronting the band. The new lineup also features OG members Gaugh and bassist Eric Wilson, who told Billboard he’s “happy to be back on the Warped Tour again after all these years.”

Gaugh added: “Wow, Warped Tour! This has come full circle now with Sublime starting on the very first Warped, and now Warped is back together with Sublime at the center. Expect nothing less than utter chaos in Long Beach.”

General admission and VIP tickets for Warped Tour Long Beach are already sold out, but fans can still sign up for the official waitlist.
