Your Mate Bookings, the agency behind the current tour of power metal bands, Dream Evil, BRIDEAR, and Wicked Smile, is calling on fans support after a recent mishap. Virgin Australia has reportedly lost up to $10,000 of the band’s merchandise whilst in transit.
These lost items include vinyl records, CDs, patches, badges, and beer coolers. This is vital revenue for international acts who are already touring on a limited budget.
In a Facebook post, the agency expressed frustration, urging fans at upcoming shows in Melbourne and Perth to buy whatever merchandise is still available. The post reads: “The bands could lose up to $10k in income due to this absolute debacle. Please support the band and tour by purchasing the items available.”
For Dream Evil and BRIDEAR, who’ve traveled from Sweden and Japan respectively, the loss is a financial blow. These bands rely heavily on merchandise sales to cover tour costs.
Virgin Australia has since issued a statement, apologising for the delay and referring the agency to their Baggage Services team. However, they didn’t clarify whether the missing items would be recovered or if the bands would be compensated.
This uncertainty has left Your Mate Bookings and the bands in limbo, with little chance of recouping the lost stock. The agency’s plea is clear: without fan support, this financial setback could have lasting consequences for both the band and the touring agency.
Fans of these underground power metal acts are now being urged to show up and spend at the merch tables. Every sale counts, whether it’s a shirt, CD, or patch. These smaller, independent bands depend on the loyalty of their fanbase, and now they need that support more than ever.
If you’re attending one of these upcoming shows, consider helping out. The community’s support could make all the difference.
