Here’s an fun way to well and truly fuck yourself up on a Friday arvo: take a bong rip for every bong rip a character takes in the film clip for The Bennies‘ latest party punk anthem, “Detroit Rock Ciggies”.
Directed by the legendary Neal Walters, the Back To The Future-inspired music video is the first ever scripted piece to come from The Bennies – a sad fact, really. The clip more than makes up for that though, all three minutes and forty-six seconds bursting at the seams with shakas, cameos, and of course, sheer iconic amounts of THC. Keep an eye out for The Smith Street Band making a pop-in as a drab goth band, too.
“Detroit Rock Ciggies” is the third single (following “Party Machine” and “Legalise (But Don’t Tax)”) pulled from The Bennies’ forthcoming third LP Wisdom Machine, due for release on March 25th via Poison City. Two days later, the band will head off on their biggest Australian tour to date!
