THE GLOOM IN THE CORNER Announce New Album ‘Royal Discordance’, Share New Single ‘Angel’s Wrath Whiskey’

Melbourne cinema core heavyweights The Gloom In The Corner have kicked the door open on their next chapter, announcing their third full length album Royal Discordance.

The record lands February 27th, 2026 via SharpTone Records, promising a new flood of theatrical metalcore, dense lore and the kind of genre slicing ambition that has defined the band’s rise.

Made up of Mikey Arthur, Jesse Abdurazak, Paul Musolino and Joshua Clinch, The Gloom In The Corner aren’t easing their foot off the accelerator. Royal Discordance pulls together twelve tracks built to expand the band’s ever growing universe, a world where metalcore collides with anime scale storytelling, cinematic textures and blistering heaviness.

To mark the announcement, the band have dropped their grandiose new single ‘Angel’s Wrath Whiskey’, a track that wastes no time setting the tone. It’s Gloom at their most theatrical, and at their most self aware, the accompanying video matches the energy, dark, cinematic and driven by the visual world they continue to refine:

“Angel’s Wrath Whiskey lives up to its namesake,” the band said. “The first four shots are great, but too much of it will have you breaking down as hard as the end of the song.”

An Album Built for World Builders and Chaos Lovers

Recorded in 2024 with producer Jonathan Delese in Nashville, Royal Discordance pushes Gloom deeper into their own mythology. From the punishing ‘Assassination Run’, to the sinister ‘Nope (Hollow Point Elysium)’, to the sprawling two-part closer ‘Love I’ and ‘Love II’, the album leans into sharp narrative arcs and bold stylistic turns.

The band describe it as “a concoction of chaos and revelry,” promising new territory rather than a repeat of 2022’s acclaimed Trinity. For a group already praised for their ambition, this record looks poised to stretch their universe even further.
