If you rolled out of bed slightly faster this morning when you received the news, then you’re not alone. Swedish rock juggernauts The Hives are finally making their long-overdue return to Australia this July.
The tour marks the bands first live performance in the country in nearly a decade.
Armed with a brand new album and enough attitude to flatten a small city, the five-piece will tear through Fremantle, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane with four exclusive 18+ headline shows.
The tour follows the release of their latest single ‘Enough Is Enough’ which was a snarling preview of what’s to come on their new album The Hives Forever Forever The Hives. The album, which will be released on 29 August through Play It Again Sam, already has an enormous amount of hype around it. It’s their seventh studio album and the follow-up to 2023’s The Death of Randy Fitzsimmons, which broke a ten-year silence and reignited their global cult following.
Recorded across Stockholm and Malibu, with input from Pelle Gunnerfeldt (Viagra Boys), Mike D (Beastie Boys), and Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age), the new record promises full-throttle chaos with the band’s usual flair for theatre and precision.
Live, The Hives are still untouchable. Whether it’s the Pyramid Stage or a packed dive bar, they play like they’ve got something to prove—and usually do it in matching suits.
With over 30 years of damage behind them, the band—Howlin’ Pelle, Chris Dangerous, Nicholaus Arson, Vigilante Carlstroem and The Johan And Only—remain one of the sharpest, loudest, and most entertaining acts in the game.
Tickets for all four dates go on sale Thursday 10 April (12pm local time) via frontiertouring.com/thehives. Frontier Members can access the presale from Tuesday 8 April at 12pm local time.
