The Interrupters have announced their fifth album, Battle Scars, with new single ‘Back From The Dead’ drawing on Aimee Interrupter’s sobriety and a near-death experience she says changed her life.
Due Friday, January 29th, 2027 through Hellcat/Epitaph, The Interrupters new 11 track record follows 2022’s In The Wild. The announcement arrived on November 5th alongside the single and its hospitalset video, following the release of ‘Warrior Spirit’ in October.
Aimee describes ‘Back From The Dead’ as a reawakening, explaining that she now celebrates leaving an earlier version of herself behind. She calls the song “my letter to alcohol, the worst friend I ever had”.
Speaking with SPIN, the singer said she was approaching 11 years sober at the time of the interview. She declined to discuss the details of her near-death experience, but spoke about how surviving it informed the new record.
“We really wanted to focus on the triumph and the victory and the strength that you get after going through something,” she told SPIN.

‘One More Trip’ celebrates another birthday and the chance to keep living, while ‘Harboring Vengeance’ deals with forgiving someone who deeply hurt her. Elsewhere, ‘Stained Glass Window’ draws on Aimee’s experiences with mental health.
Kevin Bivona and longtime collaborator Tim Armstrong produced Battle Scars on analogue tape. Kevin told SPIN that Armstrong suggested the approach, with Aimee singing live alongside the band and mistakes requiring the tape to be rewound and erased before another take. He described a process that pushed them to work quickly and commit to the performances they were capturing.
Travis Barker contributes drums to ‘Wild Heart’, ‘Unbreakable’ and ‘Warrior Spirit’. Armstrong and Vic Ruggiero feature on ‘One More Trip’, while Operation Ivy’s Jesse Michaels appears on ‘Stranger’ and helped write material for the record. Bad Religion’s Brett Gurewitz also worked with the band during the sessions.
The album runs from opener ‘Warrior Spirit’ to closing track ‘Legacy’. Australian pre-orders are available through Artist First, with black vinyl listed at $50 (AUD), coloured editions at $55 (AUD) and the CD at $20 (AUD).
