The Prodigy Honour Keith Flint in Blistering Coachella Set

Share

The Prodigy stormed Coachella’s Mojave Tent on Friday night (April 11) with a set that paid loud, blistering tribute to the late Keith Flint without ever slipping into sentimentality.

Six years on from Flint’s death, his presence still anchors the band’s live energy. Mid-set, during ‘Firestarter’, the band beamed a laser outline of Flint across the stage, synced to snippets of his vocals. No words were then spoken. No moments were drawn out. It was just a sharp, visual reminder that he’s still very much part of the show.

It was a similar move to last year’s Reading and Leeds sets, but seeing it under the lights at Coachella hit different. Stripped of drama, it felt raw and deliberate. A flash of the past, carried straight into the chaos of now.

The rest of the set was full-throttle: ‘Breathe’, ‘Omen’, ‘Smack My Bitch Up’, ‘No Good (Start the Dance)’ were all delivered with zero restraint. Maxim led the charge with pure menace, flanked by relentless beats and strobe-heavy visuals. Beyond the moment of tribute, the band didn’t pause to reflect. They just continued to push harder.

There’s still no one else quite like The Prodigy live. Unlike many legacy acts, the band have literally no interest in nostalgia. Additionally, they are making no attempts to repackage the past. It’s all Jjust high BPM catharsis and a refusal to let the energy drop. Even now, with half the original lineup gone, they refuse to play like a legacy act.

This was their third time playing Coachella, and arguably their most impactful. Not because they reinvented anything, but because they didn’t. They truly honoured Flint by cranking the volume higher and letting the lasers do the talking. While it’s not the kind of tribute that makes headlines, it’s certainly the kind that makes noise.
