The Wiggles Address TikTok Using ‘Ecstasy’ Audio, Say They Don’t ‘Support Or Condone Drugs’

The Wiggles have responded after a TikTok of members dancing using Keli Holiday’s ‘Ecstasy’ went viral, saying they don’t condone drug use.

A TikTok filmed at the Australian TikTok Awards on November 26 has sparked unexpected controversy for The Wiggles after two members were shown dancing in a clip set to Keli Holiday’s track ‘Ecstasy’. The sound choice quickly drew attention due to its lyric, “Hey girl come and dance with me/You and your pocket full of ecstasy,” prompting questions about how the children’s group ended up in a video with a drug reference attached to it.

The clip, which featured Anthony Field and Dominic Field (the Tree of Wisdom) dancing with Keli Holiday, wasn’t created by The Wiggles themselves. The TikTok was posted by Holiday, but the audio in question was added later. Once it began circulating widely, the group asked for it to be taken down – as of the time of writing, it’s no longer live.

In a statement to The Guardian, a spokesperson clarified that neither of The Wiggles members had any idea the audio would be added and that the group does not endorse the messaging in the song. “The Wiggles do not support or condone the use of drugs in any form. The content being shared was not created or approved by us, and we have asked for it to be removed,” the spokesperson said. They also noted that while “Keli Holiday (Adam Hyde) is a friend of the Wiggles, the video and the music added to it were created independently and without our knowledge.”

The footage itself came from the TikTok Awards, where The Wiggles danced to Holiday’s track ‘Dancing2’ alongside the musician. The spokesperson reiterated in a statement that “Our performance at the TikTok Awards was family-friendly and fun, and this video was edited together separately and without our awareness.”

Holiday later posted his own video from the performance featuring The Wiggles’, calling it his “dream rotation” in the captions. Although the caption fuelled more jokes from fans, the children’s music group’s position remains clear: the group wasn’t involved in choosing the audio and wants to distance themselves from any association with drug use. Although, the idea of a blunt rotation with The Wiggles (especially The Tree of Wisdom, who has previously gone viral for those wild dance moves), is still pretty funny – even if parents and child psychologists didn’t think so.
