Tyler Bates has stepped away from touring with Marilyn Manson but will continue working on the upcoming album Chapter Two.
Tyler Bates has announced he is no longer part of Marilyn Manson’s touring band, marking the end of a significant onstage chapter in a collaboration that has shaped much of the artist’s output over the past decade.
The guitarist, producer and composer shared the news on social media earlier today, explaining that the decision came after taking stock at the start of the new year. Bates has been a core creative force behind Marilyn Manson’s recent era, co-producing and co-writing multiple albums while also serving as a touring guitarist.
“Hello, Good People. Every New Year prompts reflection on all that has transpired and what lies ahead. In light of this, I have decided to conclude my time touring with Marilyn Manson to focus on my artist, film, and television projects,” Bates wrote.
His statement made it clear the split is amicable and rooted in logistics rather than conflict. Bates went on to thank his fellow band members, highlighting the close bond formed on the road. “I have enjoyed every minute working and performing with my bandmates, Gil Sharone, Reba Meyers, and Matt (Piggy D) Montgomery. They are stellar humans on and off stage. I will miss performing with them for the incredible audiences we met around the planet in support of One Assassination Under God: Chapter One.”
Importantly, Bates is not cutting ties with Marilyn Manson creatively. He confirmed he will remain involved behind the scenes, particularly with the next release. “I’m stepping away, but I will be actively supporting the upcoming release of ‘Chapter Two’, my fourth album with Manson, which I believe is our finest work together.”
He closed his message by offering well wishes to everyone involved and to fans. “I wish M, the band, and the crew the best of success and good times moving forward. Thank you, the fans, for your loyalty and support of our new music and performances. I wish you all the very best for a fantastic and peaceful 2026. TB”
Bates’ history with Marilyn Manson includes co producing and co writing 2015’s The Pale Emperor, 2017’s Heaven Upside Down and 2024’s One Assassination Under God – Chapter One. The latter followed 2020’s We Are Chaos and featured Bates on guitar, bass, guitarviol and keyboards, with former The Dillinger Escape Plan drummer Gil Sharone also appearing on the record.
The most recent touring lineup saw Bates and Sharone joined by Code Orange guitarist Reba Meyers and former Rob Zombie bassist Matt Montgomery, also known as Piggy D.
Outside of his work with Marilyn Manson, Bates is an established film composer, known for scores including Atomic Blonde, John Wick and Guardians Of The Galaxy. He originally connected with Manson through his work on the Showtime series Californication.
