Windwaker have dropped their new single ‘Victory Lap’ alongside unveil a high-octane video, ahead of their Good Things Festival slot in December.
Windwaker are back with a bold new single. Out now via Civilians and Fearless Records, ‘Victory Lap’ marks the band’s first release since their 2023 sophomore album HYPERVIOLENCE. The track arrives alongside a high-energy music video, which you can check out below.
Produced by drummer and in-house engineer Chris Lalic and mastered by Zakk Cervini (Bring Me The Horizon, Stand Atlantic, Bad Omens), ‘Victory Lap’ delivers glitch-driven guitars, explosive screams and thunderous rhythms, counterbalanced by hook-heavy choruses and hip-hop-inspired vocal delivery.
Windwaker describe the track as a statement of intent, explaining, “Victory Lap is a rejection of the naysayers, the gatekeepers and anyone who’s ever tried to box us in. It’s a reclamation of power and a celebration of self-worth.”
The video, directed by Colin Jeffs of Ten of Swords Media (behind music videos like Make Them Suffer’s ‘Mana God’) captures that same spirit of defiance. Windwaker vocalist Liam Guinane performs verses from a helicopter while chaos unfolds on the ground below. A pursuing SWAT team and a growing masked crowd set the scene for the track’s confrontation with authority and self-assertion, ultimately amplifying its message of empowerment.
Formed in 2017, the Melbourne-based five-piece — Liam Guinane (vocals), Justin Keurntjes (guitar), Indey Salvestro (bass), Chris Lalic (drums) and Connor Robins (synths/samples) — have steadily built a reputation as one of Australia’s most promising heavy music acts. Their 2023 album HYPERVIOLENCE debuted at #12 on the ARIA Top 20 Australian Artists Physical Albums chart and has already surpassed 20 million Spotify streams.
Windwaker will showcase ‘Victory Lap’ across a packed touring schedule at the back end of this year. This September and October, they join The Plot In You and Northlane for 20 shows across North America. They’ll then return home to play the Good Things Festival this December in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
