In disappointing news for fans, Wunderhorse have pulled the pin on their planned support slot for Fontaines D.C.’s highly anticipated Australia and New Zealand tour.
The announcement comes just weeks before the Dublin rockers are set to hit our shores, with Wunderhorse citing “unforeseen personal circumstances” as the reason for their withdrawal.
The UK outfit took to Instagram to share the update, writing, “We want to thank Fontaines D.C. for taking us on this journey so far. We are grateful and humbled to have been offered such a great opportunity but, due to unforeseen personal circumstances, we are unable to make the trip in March.”
Fans won’t be left without a stellar opening act, though. Wunderhorse also confirmed that British post-punk favourites Shame will step in to fill the support slot. A solid replacement, no doubt, for what’s set to be one of the year’s biggest tours.
Wunderhorse added in their statement: “We will have news of our rescheduled headline dates very soon. Purchased tickets for the headline shows will remain valid. If you are unable to attend the new dates, refunds will be available at the point of purchase. Our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience this may cause. We hope to see you at our rescheduled dates in AUS & NZ.”
While their absence down under will sting, the band’s 2025 calendar is still stacked. Wunderhorse are kicking off a US tour tomorrow night at New York City’s Bowery Ballroom and will continue their journey across the States in support of their second album, Midas.
As for us here in Australia, the wait for Wunderhorse’s rescheduled dates begins. Until then, Shame’s chaotic energy will undoubtedly bring the fire as they open for Fontaines D.C. this March. Keep an eye out for updates and, as always, get ready to embrace the chaos that is about to ensue.
