YUNGBLUD has just released his first taste of music from his next chapter. Staying true to his nature, the song entitled ‘Hello, Heaven Hello’ is as unconventional as he is.
Clearing foregoing streaming trends or trying to fit into any label- backed algorithm, YUNGBLUD has never been one to follow the rules. Releasing a nine- minute full scale rock opera is clearly part of that.
“I’ve been discouraged from releasing a nine-minute and six-second song as my first move back in a year because, in the modern world, it’s seen as a ‘risk,’” the English singer said whilst discussing the record. “I don’t see it that way at all—I see it as an opportunity.”
The track throws everything at the wall. It’s big guitars, dramatic shifts, and plenty of chaos. It’s also rooted in his influences, something YUNGBLUD has always been very open about. “Rock music is in my DNA,” he said. “I grew up in a guitar shop with my dad and my grandfather. Rock music helped me find an identity as a human being.”
Lyrically, ‘Hello Heaven, Hello’ is all about moving forward. “It’s a goodbye to the past and how you may have known or perceived me before, and a ‘hello’ to the future and where I’m going,” he shared. “It’s meant to be played in full, no filters, no compromises.”
Whether the song sticks or not, is almost regardless. It’s a statement. YUNGBLUD is not chasing trends or trying to squeeze into a playlist-friendly runtime. He’s doing what he wants, industry expectations be damned.
The track arrives after a quiet 2024, marking his first major release in over a year. It follows his last album ‘YUNGBLUD’ and a series of scattered collaborations. This time round though, he’s making sure his comeback can’t be ignored. The video for ‘Hello Heaven, Hello’ leans into the grand scale of the track, piling on theatrics and visuals to match its ambitious sound.
Love it or hate it, YUNGBLUD is making it clear he’s not here to blend in.
