Yungblud has revealed he’s set to undergo surgery to remove his tonsils after being forced to cancel his appearance at Norway’s Tons of Rock festival due to a recurring bout of tonsillitis.
Yungblud has spoken directly to fans after being forced to pull out of his scheduled appearance at Norway’s Tons of Rock festival, revealing he’s battling another bout of tonsillitis and is now set to undergo surgery later this year.
In a voice message shared to his Instagram broadcast channel, the singer explained that doctors had ordered him to rest his voice after his “tonsillitis has flared up again” following an intense run of touring.
“Tomorrow morning the news is going to come out that I am not going to be able to play in Norway… after the crazy schedule of the UK tour, straight into America, straight into three festivals with kind of no rest, my tonsillitis has flared up again and I’ve been on antibiotics for the past couple of days,” he told fans.
“My doctor has said that I really need to be careful with my voice.”
Although devastated to miss the Norwegian festival, Yungblud reassured fans that he still intends to appear at Bludfest.
“I just wanted to get on here and say that I will be at Bludfest on Saturday.”
The singer admitted cancelling the Norway performance had been incredibly difficult.
“My doctor said I can’t come to Norway on Friday night, which obviously you can hear and imagine how fucking hard it is.”
He also revealed the recurring throat issues have led to a major decision about his health.
“I’m getting my tonsils out. I’m having an operation in October because it’s the one thing… anytime my schedule’s crazy and we go and go and go… it’s the only thing in the world that can kind of take me down.”
Trying to reassure fans, he added:
“I promise I will. After I have this operation, I think I’ll be pretty, pretty invincible.”
The update marks the second time recurring tonsillitis has interrupted Yungblud’s touring schedule. Earlier this year, he was forced to postpone UK shows after being diagnosed with tonsillitis, with doctors similarly urging him to rest his voice. At the time, he also hinted that having his tonsils removed was becoming increasingly likely.
Despite sounding emotional throughout the message, Yungblud thanked fans for their support before promising he’d be back soon.
“I’m really feeling a lot of things right now. I love you all so much, more than words can express… I’m really feeling a lot right now and trying to take it all in.”
“I love you all so much.”
