A Perfect Circle Say More New Music Is Coming As Australian Tour Nears

Share

A Perfect Circle are keeping the momentum going.

After returning with their first new music in years through recent single Starless, guitarist Billy Howerdel has confirmed the band is already working toward what comes next, and it sounds like more material is firmly underway.

Speaking with Minneapolis station 93X, Howerdel was asked whether a full length album is in the works following Starless via Blabbermouth.

“There’s more [music] underway. And in the spirit of soft deadlines, I’m not gonna give you the date, but we’re working toward something.”

While that’s not a formal album announcement just yet, it’s the clearest indication so far that Starless may be the beginning of a larger creative cycle rather than a one off release.

Touring slowing down the process

Howerdel admitted touring has made progress slower than ideal, with the band currently deep into its European run.

“We’re on tour. It’s hard to get solid things done when you’re out here… So to get real cracking on to the new album, it’s gonna be… I need a couple more of these days to line up over the next tour.”

The comments arrive only weeks after A Perfect Circle released Starless, a track recorded earlier this year at Howerdel’s Lankershim Ranch Studio in California and featuring longtime collaborator Josh Freese behind the kit.

Howerdel also reflected on his creative relationship with vocalist Maynard James Keenan, crediting the frontman’s work ethic and focus as a major reason the band continues to move forward.

“When it’s time to work, we’re kind of in it… Once the train starts rolling, it’s rolling.”
