Share

AC/DC hits Melbourne on Wednesday for a run of two shows at the MCG. Here’s everything we know from set times, tickets, and more.

AC/DC is officially kicking off their POWER UP Australian tour tomorrow in Melbourne as part of their mega, month-long run of nine shows across the country. With between 3.5 and 4 million tickets sold on their current world tour so far, it’s bound to be an absolutely massive tour.

We’ve rounded up everything you should know, including the set times, setlist, how to get to the MCG in amongst the chaos, and more – so let’s get into it.

There is no general public parking available for AC/DC’s Melbourne shows, according to the official MCG site. While that’s the case, parking for Australian Disability Parking (ADP) permit holders is available to pre-book via Ticketek. There’s also the broader Olympic Park car parks – although you’d be best to pre-book otherwise you’ll likely miss out. Those taking Uber, taxi, or other ride share options should keep in mind that due to high demand, the wait to get out of the ‘G and into a car may be a long one.

The traffic leaving and arriving is bound to be pretty horrific, so plan to arrive early and expect delays on the way out – the same goes for any means of getting in, as getting into the MCG will likely take some time due to the sheer amount of attendees.

Transport Victoria has also issued an update on trains and trams for those taking public transport. There’ll be additional trains for arrivals and departures on multiple lines – you can view the full rundown of when and where here. It’s worth noting that the official page for both shows does have the incorrect start time for the event, so keep that in mind if you’re planning your trip.

If you’re planning to get a tram to one of the AC/DC Melbourne shows, here’s the gist:

Route 48

  • Trams will operate as a shuttle between Wellington Parade/Simpson Street Stop 13 and Collins Street/Victoria Harbour Stop D18

Route 70a

  • Trams will operate as a shuttle between Flinders Street West Stop 06, and MCG/John Cain Arena stop 7C.

Route 75a

  • Trams will operate as a shuttle between Flinders Street Stop 04 and Wellington Parade/Simpson Street Stop 13.

AC/DC Merch: Where to buy

Following the route of Metallica and Oasis, AC/DC has an official merch pop-up store open from today until Sunday 16 November. It’s located at The Royal Derby, 446 Brunswick St, Fitzroy. According to the official AC/DC tour site, it’ll be host to “legendary tour props” like the tour cannon and Hells Bell, and have exclusive merch including limited-edition vinyl “you won’t find anywhere else.”

Here’s the opening hours over the week:

  • Nov 11, 13, 14, 15: 12 PM – 10 PM
  • Nov 12 & 16 (AC/DC Showdays): 11 AM – 5 PM

There’ll of course be merch available at the MCG for those wanting to grab something on their way in to one of the shows, but it’ll likely be snapped up quick with some pretty hectic lines – so if you don’t want to miss out on a good spot or miss any of the show, it might be worth ducking down to Fitzroy. Don’t worry if you’re not in Melbourne, either – there will be pop-ups in each city, coinciding with AC/DC’s Aussie tour dates.
