Alex Terrible Addresses Nazi Allegations: “I Am Not a Nazi”

Share

Slaughter To Prevail frontman Alex Terrible has once again addressed the controversy surrounding his past, insisting that he is not a Nazi while acknowledging that decisions he made as a young man continue to shape how the public views him.

Speaking to Metal Hammer, Russian deathcore vocalist Alex Terrible discussed the Black Sun and Othala Rune tattoos he had when he was younger, as well as his associations with right-wing individuals in Russia.

Terrible has since covered the tattoos and previously explained that he became involved with the subculture while struggling with drug addiction and searching for a stronger identity, he understands why those choices continue to attract criticism, particularly given his public profile.

“I have had to come to terms with that and I am paying the price now. I am paying the price for the stupid decision to get the black sun tattoo and hanging out with the right-wing guys [when I was younger].”

Not a Nazi

He also rejected the idea that his past associations make him a Nazi, drawing a distinction between the people he spent time with and his own beliefs.

“People call me a Nazi and say that I don’t deserve to live, but I just hung around with these right-wing guys. I didn’t kill anybody, I didn’t stab anybody, I didn’t bully anybody, I just made some stupid mistakes, and I am not a Nazi. I never was a racist or any of this horrible stuff.”

Terrible acknowledged that he would make different choices if given the opportunity, saying his mindset has changed considerably with age.

The musician also addressed previous accusations of homophobia and transphobia, arguing that comments he made online were misunderstood and reiterating that he supports people being gay or transgender.

Despite the ongoing backlash, Terrible says his experiences at live events are markedly different from the hostility he encounters online. He specifically pointed to Bloodstock, claiming he receives respect from fellow musicians and attendees in person.

For Terrible, the controversy appears unlikely to disappear entirely, while he maintains that he regrets some of his youthful decisions, he also believes those experiences helped shape the person he is today.
