Swedish metal visionaries Avatar are showing no signs of slowing down.
Fresh from supporting Metallica across Europe and following an extensive international touring run, the band has released a brand new standalone single, “Crying Fire”, giving fans another taste of the creative momentum that has defined the current Don’t Go In The Forest era.
While the track wasn’t included on the band’s latest album, frontman Johannes Eckerström revealed that wasn’t because it failed to make the cut.
“‘Crying Fire’ is very special to all of us. It was written and recorded as part of the Don’t Go In The Forest sessions,” Eckerström explained (per press release).
“When making the final selection for album tracks, this one was a given. But then we started asking ourselves something: What if we saved the best for later? What if we kept this gem away from the world for a while?”

A whirlwind of emotion
According to Eckerström, the song captures a whirlwind of emotion while exploring themes of pain, resilience and passion.
“It certainly stands tall on its own. I hear a relentless firestorm of emotions. It hits me in a deeply hidden place, and I hope it does the same for you.”
The release comes at a busy period for Avatar, who continue to cement their reputation as one of modern metal’s most unique live acts.
Alongside a lengthy run of European headline dates, the band is currently sharing stages with Metallica on select stadium shows and will be heading to Australia and New Zealand this August/September, bringing their theatrical live show to intimate venues across the region.
