Bleak Squad ‘Strange Love’ video
Their debut album Strange Love has enjoyed an impressive run since its release, topping the AIR Albums Chart, debuting inside the ARIA Top 40, earning Album of the Week honours from both RRR and PBS FM, and landing on the shortlist for the Australian Music Prize.
The band has also built a formidable live reputation, sharing stages with Pulp, Ed Kuepper & Jim White, appearing at Golden Plains, and completing its first national headline tour.
More recently, Bleak Squad released the brooding new single Black & White, offering another taste of the band’s distinctive blend of art rock, post-punk and experimental songwriting.
Fans can also look forward to new material sooner rather than later, with the band confirming work has already begun on a second studio album.
Before heading overseas in November, Bleak Squad will complete a string of Australian dates, including a newly announced performance at Hobart’s Alter Bar and a mystery Melbourne show that sold out almost immediately. In a fun twist, fans attending the Melbourne performance won’t discover the venue until the day of the show.
As The Guardian’s Andrew Stafford recently wrote:
“… they should not be missed live: four Australian music greats with charisma to burn, uncanny chemistry, and a quality set of songs tailor made for those long, dark nights of the soul.”
Strange Love is available now via Poison City, while the limited edition Black & White / A Suitcase In Berlin 7 inch single is also out now on streaming services and vinyl.
