Borderlands 4 Finally Gets A Performance Patch For PC After Significant Issues

Share

Following a rocky launch plagued by performance-breaking bugs, Borderlands 4 has received a fresh patch, aiming to address its most significant issues.

Borderlands 4 released last week to solid reviews; however, the one thing holding it back from critical acclaim was its lauded performance issues plaguing its PC version.

At the time of writing, the game is still currently sitting at a Mixed score on Steam, with nearly every negative review citing its poor performance on desktop.

Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford has been providing tech support on social media over the past week, offering direct solutions to resolve stuttering graphics performance; however, this level of open communication would also spark backlash, as Pitchford would lash out at players, suggesting they “get a refund from Steam if you aren’t happy with it.”

He would go on to say that every PC gamer “must accept the reality of the relationship between their hardware and what the software they are running is doing”, which was understood as blaming individual players.

Well, days later, Pitchford has followed up with a new statement, claiming that performance was now a top priority for the development team, who are now working to rush out performance patches for both PC and console gamers.

Today, Gearbox launched yet another performance patch for PC players, hoping to address Borderlands 4 frequently crashing.

“We’re reading every piece of feedback you share,” says the Gearbox statement, which makes you feel a little bad for the poor staffer charged with that duty. “We know some PC players are running into bugs and crashes. We hear you. Updates to improve stability and performance already started rolling out over the weekend and another is coming [today]. This is our top priority.”

The same statement announced that a heavily requested FOV slider will be coming to consoles soon.

Despite releasing only a week ago, Gearbox has provided a post-launch roadmap for Borderlands 4, sharing plans to release new missions, story packs, and a new vault hunter next year.
