‘Borderlands 4’ Is Bringing FL4K Back For A Jungle Hunt In Massive Story Pack 2

Share

‘Borderlands 4’ is expanding again on September 10th, with Gearbox unleashing Story Pack 2: ‘FL4K and the Last Resort’, new Vault Hunter Loveless the Hacker and Bounty Pack 5: ‘Amara and the Vile Shadows’ alongside the Version 1.10 update.

The centrepiece is Providence, a tropical island built around an active volcano that has become the latest target of Tediore. The corporation wants its Ordonite resources, while returning ‘Borderlands 3’ Vault Hunter FL4K has a considerably more personal problem: Tediore has captured Mr. Chew.

Speaking exclusively to us, Expert Game Designer Matt Higgins and Associate Art Director Chris Neely explained that Gearbox had plenty of familiar faces available, but Providence made FL4K the obvious choice.

‘We have a huge roster of characters to pull from, so the toughest part was just choosing who to bring back since there are so many good options. FL4K fit the environment so perfectly that it ended up feeling like a no-brainer once we landed on the concept of a jungle hunt.’

Gearbox has also adapted FL4K visually to their new surroundings, including an iridescent sniper cowl assembled from Providence’s foliage.

‘We wanted FL4K to lose none of their signature presence, that big, bulky silhouette and untamed energy, while still making sense in a hot tropical setting.’

Tediore Has Come To Kairos

Providence expands on one of the main campaign’s biggest consequences: Kairos is no longer hidden from the wider universe.

‘Once Kairos was revealed to the universe, other corporations started moving in, and in this case it’s Tediore, clashing with FL4K and capturing Mr. Chew.’

Players will hunt five Tediore managers before confronting Lieutenant Harmony inside a bunker carved into the island’s active volcano. New enemies include exo-suit soldiers and massive mechs, while Ordonite infused eruptions can trigger world events by launching molten rocks that spawn minibosses.

Providence also introduces ziplines for moving above its jungle canopy and Tediore digiverse encounters where players upload directly into servers to destroy enemies before they materialise.

Surviving it all offers access to two new Pearlescent weapons and 18 pieces of Legendary gear.

Loveless And Amara Join The September Update

September 10 also introduces Loveless the Hacker, an ex-Anshin hacker turned assassin sharing her mind with a sentient digital virus capable of taking physical form.

Gearbox describes Loveless as its first significant exploration of Anshin beyond the shields and accessories associated with the manufacturer throughout the series.

Bounty Pack 5 meanwhile brings back Amara for ‘Amara and the Vile Shadows’, sending players deeper into the Phase dimension while expanding Siren lore with new bosses, enemies and loot.

Version 1.10 will launch alongside all three releases and increase the maximum level cap by 10 for every ‘Borderlands 4’ player.

‘Borderlands 4’ Story Pack 2: ‘FL4K and the Last Resort’, Loveless the Hacker and Bounty Pack 5: ‘Amara and the Vile Shadows’ launch September 10.
